The belt is supported by an ‘Elastic Mattress’. This consists of one or more transverse saddles; on each saddle are mounted abrasion resistant plates that allow the belt to slide over the ‘mattress’. These plates are the wearing component and can be easily replaced when necessary, thus reducing the costs of total replacement of the saddle or in the case of an impact bed, the total support bar. The absorption of energy is achieved by the elongation of the saddle and thanks to this phenomenon, the efficiency of this system is superior to any known other system working by ‘direct absorption’.
